Rivals

Sunday night was the big game.  The big rivalry in the MLS is the Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders.  We headed up with my parents that snagged tix fom my dad's work, and parked FAR away.  This game was one of the ones they opened the entire top of the stadium too, and over 66,000 people came.

Sawyer came too.  He was very good the first half and just laid his head on Andy like he was about to fall asleep.  At halftime people started poking at him and for the rest of the game so Andy's arms were getting tired holding a wiggly guy.

The Sounders played awesome that game, and shut out the Timbers 3-0.  It was fun because the crowd was so energetic too.  They had to be with the giant Timbers Army section (luckily on the other side of the stadium as us so we couldn't really hear them).

I think my favorite part of Sounders games is right before the game starts.  They announce the other team (after each player the crowd yells "WHO?"), they announce our players while everyone's scarves are up (the guy says their first name as the crowd yells the last name), then the team walks out during the boom-boom-clap where one guy in the stadium hits the drum and the entire crowd that has their hands in the air claps and yells "HEY!"  Then the guy comes out and "leads" the national anthem while everyone sings.  The team goes out on the field to "scarves up" and at kick off they launch the streamers.

We got extra this game too.  Sawyer got a bear from one of our season ticket buddies (she sits behind us) and Andy guessed the "man of the match" correctly and won a lotto ticket :)

Sawyer did the boom-boom-clap

Almost asleep

The nice lady Kate behind us gave Sawyer a Sounders bear :)
