Tulips

We went to Mt. Vernon today to look at the tulips before they disappeared.  I didn't have guitar this week and it also happened to be the last day of the festival so we thought we'd take advantage of the time.  We went to a garden, then a field.  It was the last day so there weren't many left (the fields were all done) but we couldn't get up any sooner this month.  We had fun though and they were SO pretty :)

The funny thing is, we got home with plenty of time that I could have gone to guitar had it not been an off week!  We took advantage of the perfect weather and did some work outside.  I weeded, Andy and the kids washed the cars, and then Andy mowed the lawn and weed-whacked the side and some of the back of the house (until his twine snapped).

Doctor 12 months

Our doctor changed locations to the clinic at the hospital, so we decided to follow her there (she invited her favorite patients, yay us).  She doesn't have a lot of appointments because she is mainly teaching other doctors there, so it took awhile to get Kellan in for his 12 month appointment.

Unfortunately the day before his appointment he required a visit to the walk-in.  He had a cough for a couple days, but nothing too bad- just a couple here and there.  Our babysitter called after he was dropped off and said he coughed until he threw up and he was having a hard time catching his breath, so Andy went and got him.

Poor little guy had bronchiolitis (the child version of bronchitis) so they gave him a nebulizer which he did not enjoy.

I think it helped him breathe though, because he actually fell asleep with it on (and this kid doesn't fall asleep on people much).

She said his lungs sounded MUCH better afterwards.  She gave a prescription and said not to fill it until our doctor checked him the following day to make sure he needed it.

The next day Andy took the boys to the regular doctor, and turns out his lungs sounded great and he didn't need the prescription! Yay.

Kellan is 22 lbs 10 oz and 30 inches.  He didn't get any shots because he got some less than a month ago and you have to wait a month if you get a live vaccine.  Andy was proud because they give you a checklist of milestones (such as "puts arms though sleeves when dressing" or "clapping toys together") and he answered yes to every one!

Afterwards he took the boys to Bradley Lake, which we haven't been to since Sawyer was tiny (it is so awfully crowded all the time) so they loved it.

What Kellan does now:

-Walks quickly and is to the point there is no falling unless he actually trips
-Makes sounds like he is talking in sentences
-Says the normal sounds but no words on purpose- even though we got him to repeat "awesome" to us about 20 times the other night.
-Helps put on his clothes in the sense that he holds up legs for diaper changes, sticks his legs straight for pants on, and pushes his arms through the sleeves
-Plays like Sawyer by doing things like pushing trucks around with him
-Starting to understand things in his head more- I saw him find a sock on the ground and he walked over and put it in the laundry basket.
-Eats anything. I have yet to see him spit anything out and I've fed him things like mushrooms, tomatoes, and other things a lot of kids don't like as much.
-Drinks out of all sippy cup types and no longer uses bottles
-Waves and claps
-Likes to kick Sawyer in the head if they're both in their car seats in the Pathfinder and Sawyer lays his head down.  He's actually really cute in the car- he sings and talks to himself and always kicks his feet around on the seat. I like that his new car seats allow him and Sawyer to look at each other and play versus his old bucket seat that he couldn't see over the side.  It makes them have fun in the car.

That is all I can think of for now.

Easter 14

It was a week ago, but I had to shrink and sharpen all the pictures and it was a long week.  We did have a good easter though- even if Sawyer woke me up at 8:30 by shoving a truck in my face from his easter basket he discovered downstairs without me.  Oh well.

Anyways, here is the day in pictures:

Happy Birthday Andy!

Tuesday was Andy's birthday so he met me at work (I took a half day) and we went to Paseo for his birthday lunch!  If you don't know what Paseo is, it is a cuban sandwich shop (one in Ballard and one in Freemont) and it actually was like number one or two in Yelp's top restaurants in the country.  The line is usually super long but we got there at a weird off-time and only had one person in front of us.  Look up the address if you plan to go, there is no sign!  It is very tasty and affordable!

The sandwiches are very messy though, you get a ton of napkins and moist towelettes.  DO NOT GO THERE FOR A FIRST DATE!  You will have stuff on your hands and teeth and you'll smell like sandwiches.  Not always good ;)

I got the pork with ham and cheese and Andy got the scallop sandwich.  Mine was huge so he got a lot of mine too.  I'd recommend either.  We have only been to the Ballard location which is right down the road from Golden Gardens so I recommend getting a sandwich then hitting the beach!

And these happened

Also from this weekend- phone pics.

What else happened...

I started C25k treadmill version.  I felt lazy since Andy's signed up for 3 halfs and a full marathon so far this year (3 rock n rolls and The Oatmeal's "Beat the Blerch") Yes this is not even close to what he does, but it doesn't come easy to me.  I am working on keeping the pace slow.  On the website it said "if you can run slower, you're probably going too fast." I have a problem running slow since all of my running in the past has been for speed (running the bases, trying to make/avoid a tackle, etc) so going slow to pace myself and not use all my energy up in a short period of time is hard for me.  I set the walking pace at 3 and the running at 4 so hopefully I can get far on that.  They say speed comes with a lot of practice after you have distances down. I will update as I go!

We packed up all the bottles.  Kellan can now drink out of the hard-top sippy cups (those rubber ones break so easily) so we have no need for the bottles anymore.

We went to the park

This cracked me up because Sawyer and Andy were playing hide and seek and Sawyer was hiding here:
