Pre-Easter festivities

My work complex was having egg hunts today, so we decided to stop by.  I'm not sure who spread the word but there were hundreds of people there!  They had the road covered in straw and blocked them off by age group.  It was pretty crowded, but we found a spot in the 0-3 year old place and waited.  We ran into the Webbs as well.

They said go, and instead of letting their kids pick up the eggs, dozens of parents took off with arm fulls.  Andy was merging in, but as PARENTS of 6 month olds came out with full buckets, Andy and Sawyer emerged with no eggs.  Easton hadn't got any either. Sawyer was SO sad, he had the big fat lip out and it broke my heart.  I asked a family with 2 full buckets for an egg (they looked like I had asked them for a hundred bucks) just to make him not cry.  This was the scene when they said "go".

I took him over to the 6 and under group since there was a front spot which guaranteed eggs, and I assumed without the huge parents attacking, it would be easier for him.  We waited for about a half hour, and Sawyer knew exactly what he had to do.  He kept trying to run out there before it was time to go.

They finally said "go" and it was another stampede.  I was furious to see some parents coming in this one too; your 4-year-old does not need parental assistance when my 2-year-old can pick up eggs just fine.  The stampede confused him and he kind of panicked and looked around.  Luckily, everyone tended to run straight to the middle, so I kind of sat down in front and pointed to a few for him to grab that were around the edge.  He actually got 3 eggs this time and we kept congratulating him.  One little brat even took one from under my body that I was pointing to Sawyer to get.  I guess I know where we aren't going next year!  The selfishness of the parents just blew my mind.  Your 6-month-old does not need candy eggs, they're too little to even pick up an egg, yet their basket is completely full!

We headed over to let him pet the bunnies and take a picture with the Menchies guy before we left.

Tonight Sawyer dyed eggs with grandma and papa Sam.  I think he had fun picking what colors to go when, and pulling them out of the cups.

Swell

This is not the "Leave it to Beaver" kind of "swell," this is the "my body doubled in size" kind of swell.

I have been swollen for awhile, but yesterday took the cake.  I had an appointment that evening and found out why.  My blood pressure is high.  I asked the nurse if it meant we were going to the hospital and she said she didn't know.  She had me lay down.  When the doctor came in, she took it again and said it went down a little (well yes, I stand up all day so I can see why laying down would change it).  I was half hoping they'd send me to the hospital though because it is so painful now just walking around- my joints have joined my puffy body to make a super painful body.  I guess I am glad she isn't induction-happy though because I was 39+2 at that point and would have had a fine baby, plus it would have ensured it was her to deliver and she still didn't even put it out there. When I asked on my way out, they said it isn't a big concern to them because there was no protein in the urine sample which is what points to pre-eclampsia.

She checked me and I really didn't progress much.  It was 50% effaced last time and now it is 70%, and she said he is still pretty high up in my pelvis.  She is leaving on spring break with her kids so she won't even be here the next week but it doesn't really bother me.  She is a nice lady, but I don't care who catches him as long as that person knows what they're doing, and they'd just send the doctor on call.  She said something about induction if he is not out by the time she gets back (which would put  me at 41 weeks) but I don't know how I feel about that.  I think I'd rather have a 12 lb baby, but maybe I'll feel differently in a week and a half.

Maybe he'll follow the rest of us and be born on Easter since we were all born on holidays.  Maybe he'll be born April first (which is what I think my due date was supposed to be for real since I mentioned she put me one day later than he really was) and he'll fool us and be born a girl (not sure I'd find that funny).  Or, maybe he'll come late and be tubby and not get to wear all his cute newborn outfits we bought him :(  Either way, I hope I am not this swollen for too much longer!

Here are my enormous cankles/feet I received yesterday.  They still haven't gone down at all.  My socks make the awesome sausage effect too!  They look like they belong to the Michelin Man.

To my little buddy

Dear little guy,

You can come out now.  I think we aren't very sick anymore.  I am waking up choking every hour so I barely get any sleep, and standing and walking around at work is really really tough lately...and kind of embarrassing.  Plus, my tummy itches and I don't want any stretch marks for swimsuit season...I can't help but think they are on their way.  The house is pretty clean, and your stuff is ready.  Grandma is even up from Sacramento to meet you.  I know you are supposed to cook another week, but we really don't mind you coming a little early.  I don't want to have to issue an eviction notice.

Love,
Mommy

P.S. Here is how I look now at 39 weeks.  My ankles are swollen so that my socks indent my skin!

A last time in the snow

We took off for a drive on a perfect day and ended up...in the mountains.  The weather there was still perfect though so it was ok.  I wanted to see it one last time before spring melts it all.  They had just received a dump of snow last weekend so it was really pretty.  Sawyer had a lot of fun throwing snowballs.

You can see the snowball he threw right in front of Andy's pocket haha!

When we were done we drove back and stopped at Five Guys since it has been forever since we went and saw them on TV that morning.  My kid would be the one pulling out the tomatoes and eating them.  He did eat the whole burger though.

Next we went shopping and Andy was super excited because we ran out of the Trader Joe's stuff and we needed more almond butter.  Fred Meyer has a machine you can use to turn the almonds into butter and he's been waiting to be able to use it.

Next Erik and Destiny came over to watch the soccer game and they helped pick up the toys.  Let's hope this lasts a few days!  We also got some Easter stuff at Target and "registered" for baby.  By registered I mean starting a registry for everyday stuff like diapers just to get all the coupons they give you when you first sign up in the welcome bag lol

Itching

This morning I had some sort of hives/rash on my hips.  Then it migrated to my thighs.  After a few hours of relief, it finally finished at my feet (while simultaneously getting my upper arms). WHAT IS GOING ON???

Other lovely things happening with me: coughing up stuff and nasal congestion (ewww) and super dry throat still making me wake up every hour to take a drink of water before I suffocate.  My doctor said that was normal though so I guess that last one will last until baby comes.

Not sure if there's been any progress since the first time I have been "checked" was today.  1 1/2 to 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced.  Apparently that doesn't mean much of anything though except you are nearing labor (well, we already knew that lol) and some people can be in that state for quite awhile.  My doctor said she will be in Spokane this weekend so don't have the baby yet or she will be sad.  My mom said they're hoping for Saturday.  I could go for either since I remember being in the situation before and not caring who catches the baby lol.

Oh, and to everyone commenting on my size, in the words of Lumbergh

"Yeah...... if you could stop telling me how huge I am...that'd be great.

37+5

This would be the day Sawyer was born.  37 weeks and 5 days.  Though every time I am at the doctor they have me one day less, even though my first appt was on a Tuesday and they definitely said 11 weeks and 1 day.  I think she just typed in 11 weeks even to make it easier.

I would normally be hoping he would come today, but not this time.  I can't think if anything I'd rather do less than attempt to push out a baby with this cold.  My nose is super stuffed (I couldn't breathe already during labor with Sawyer) and my throat is so swollen that you can see it and I resemble Honey Boo-boo's mom (and my throat hurt so bad after labor last time).  Oh well.  Natalie said I'm not allowed to have him until after Bunco tomorrow anyway because we'll screw up the numbers.  Plus, Sawyer still has a nasty cough and I want him to be able to hold his little brother first thing.  *sigh*  Maybe he'll come on time, which, I think I am fine with since the thought of another baby right now is overwhelming.  We are all so tired!  Sawyer has been so attached lately I think I want to stretch it out a little too ;)

Funny: I asked Sawyer "Guess who is coming to play today?" (Destiny is coming while Erik and Andy go to the Sounders game) He says, "The baby?"

Here's the picture I took today

Here's why I love my husband:

(Last night)

*Andy walks in from work*
Me: Um
Andy: What did you buy?
Me: Huh?
Andy: I know your "I just bought something" face
Me: Oh.  Yeah...  That pink dress in the Old Navy ad.
Andy: Oh good!  I just got an email from Old Navy today saying dresses were on sale and was going to tell you to get one.

:)

Disclaimer: normally I wouldn't buy something before I could try it on (aka after baby) but they were on sale and I have a lot of weddings this spring and summer so I need more...plus their return policy is 45 days so that is enough time to have a baby...I can just exchange it for the right size then :D

Update with no news

I stayed home sick for the second day in a row (well, I get paid for the second day and don't get any attendance points so it would be dumb not to).  Though I don't feel as crappy as I did yesterday, I freaked out a little this morning when my whole stomach area hurt really bad for a couple of hours.  I couldn't even move.  I almost made Andy come right home but as soon as I called him it went away and hasn't come back.  I felt bebe moving so I wasn't concerned about his health really.

I went to the doctor for a normal appointment (I'm 37 weeks now) and his heartbeat and measurements were normal, and she didn't seem phased when I said my stomach hurt so bad this morning.  I haven't been "checked" yet.  I'm hoping I can make it 2 pregnancies without those awkward appointments because Sawyer came before they started them last time and from what I've heard, they aren't pleasant.  I am betting next appointment will be like that so let's hope a baby comes before next Thursday. St. Paddy's day anyone?  I was also quite relieved because someone close (not my family) had pinworms and I was really afraid I would get them since google made them sound super contagious.  My dr. assured me they are really hard to pass as adults since we tend to have good hygiene (they only pass easily with small kids), and I would know if I had them because I'd wake up at night with a super itchy butt...plus they wouldn't affect me or the baby and I'd still be able to take the meds if I was pregnant. Phew!  Oh!  And she also said the super dry throat was a somewhat common symptom of pregnancy and waking up at night not being able to breathe until I have water and bloody throat is not something to be worried about. Phew again!

Sawyer just did the cutest thing.  He came running down the stairs saying he had to tell me something.  I leaned over and he whispered "i have to kiss you" then kissed my cheek. I just love the little fuzzy guy.

Tiny TOMS

I think we all know how much I love TOMS shoes.  The comfort level and versatility can't be beat! I can never spend much money on kids shoes since they grow out of them so quickly, but there was a sale on zulily so I got a pair for each of the boys.  They won't fit them for a few months (I bought size 5 and 8 and Sawyer's still in 7's which believe it or not his feet are just about too big for 2T footie jammies- we cram them in there) but they are so darn cute.  Sawyer saw me take them out and got so excited "THESE ARE FOR ME?!?!" I let him wear them around a little bit, but I think if he tried to run in them he'd trip.  He looked good though.

The making of the next picture.  "I want to say cheese!"

Mine and Sawyer's are the same color!  Mine just took a beating in New York city lol

Lookin' good!  Except how every picture he sticks his tongue out now...

What's the big idea?

Sawyer and my dad were having a ball fight and Sawyer kept cracking me up because whenever he would get hit he would go "The big idea?"  Here is a video

Sawyer also played with a set of shapes puzzles that I used to love when I was small, and luckily my mom kept a lot of our toys.  I get so proud of him when he does them.

He finished the spaceship
We got some more baby stuff- a pair of TOMS for both of the boys arrived today (they are a bit too big for both, but they are adorable!)  Erik and Destiny brought us a crib mattress and a boatload of diapers today, and they had a bag of some clothes and swaddle blankets.  Andy set up the pack 'n' play in our room.  We are definitely ready for Kellan to come out!  I think he has been trying to too- the past 2 days I have had a ton more braxton hicks and some awkward pains down there.  I am "full term" (37 weeks) tomorrow, so it can be any day now and he wouldn't be considered premature anymore.  We are crossing our fingers he decides to come out soon (Sawyer was born at 37 weeks and 5 days) and due to some weird drama at work, I'd like to start taking my leave so it can all be done with when I come back!  No pressure though, I don't want him out if he isn't ready!

Lake Sammamish Half Marathon

Today was race day!  We picked up my dad and left around 7 since the race was supposed to start at 8:30 and was in Redmond. We got to our exit and saw it was BACKED UP.  Like forever.  We pulled out of the stopped line and went to the next exit.  The line was like a mile long on the freeway, but the next exit was completely free and just led you to the opposite entrance of Marymoore Park where we were headed. SCORE!  You could also see all the circus tents since Cirque du Soliel was there for the month.

It was a little foggy, but you could see the sun was going to burn it off soon.  It wasn't too hot out, and when you were active, it wasn't too cold either, perfect weather for a race!

There were almost 2,000 people there.  The bathroom lines were so backed up, even with like 20 honey buckets and of course Sawyer had to pee.  Luckily Andy found a line that looked like they were mostly parents and asked if he could cut ahead and they were happy to let him go first.  Since he was sick and started slipping into old habits, it was not ideal to tell him to just "pee in his pull up" so we got lucky.  He then took his place in the crowd, even though it was quite a bit past 8:30, I think they were taking that huge line into account.
Getting ready

The bikers to lead the pack

Finally, they were off!

The 3 of us got back in the car and went to go find the finish, which was 13.1 miles away.  We had a couple hours so we took our time.  The road goes along the trail, so a few minutes of driving let us get a peek at Andy on the way, who was pretty easy to spot.  After we passed the pack, we kept driving and about twice the distance away already were the leaders.  There were 2 guys and a girl that were so fast they got their own bike riders since they were apart from everyone else. (We later found the winner finished in 1:13 which is a 5:35 minute per mile pace...YIKES!)  We decided to stop at mcdonalds to get a little food and wait.  We left as we saw the faster pack had finally caught up since we knew we needed to park first.  The end was at Lake Sammamish state park and luckily we have a discover pass!  We headed toward the finish line to wait for Andy.

I spot yellow!  Shirt? Check. Hat? Check. Socks? Check.  It's him!

YAY!  The clock said 2:09, but it took him awhile to get to the starting line.  His official chip time was 2:06:27!  Average time was 2:07:34 so he beat the average time.  His place was 970 out of 1,737. I am proud of him because he was trying to get under 2 1/2 hours and got pretty close to the 2 hour mark instead.  Also because most of the people there were those super thin only muscle long legged people that Andy probably had like at least 70 lbs on them lol.  We gathered up our stuff and a few freebies and headed out.

Next stop for me, my cousin Anna's bridal shower. I was like 45 minutes late, but I didn't miss anything.

My cousin Peter's daughter Lily had a napkin mask and was cracking me up as she introduced herself to everyone as "Tucky, the ninja turtle."

I think she was enjoying the attention while it lasts because her new baby sister Emily was born yesterday!

Over the bridge

We were bored today and it was nice so we went to our neighborhood park to take a few pictures and play on the slide.  These are weirdly edited versions, but here's some.

Then we headed out for a drive across the bridge.  It was very pretty out.

We ended up a the Blazin Onion for lunch.  It is next door to the AT&T in Gig Harbor and I had heard awesome things from people that work there. 10/10 would eat again.  It is funny because they don't have normal servers, so if you need something you put the service sign in the condiment holder.

Sawyer was asleep by the time we got there, and was pretty cute hanging on to Andy as he fell asleep off and on.  He got his chicken nuggets he had been asking for all day though.

The burger was one of the best I've had!

Next we went back across the bridge and went to Chambers Creek park.  It was really pretty as the sun was setting!

Sawyer spotted the "playground by the Sound" and wanted to play on the slides.  It was a nice playground and the running trail there is really nice too- we will definitely be back.

I'll put a video up of him going down a different slide sometime.  It was like a straight down drop it was so steep.  Sawyer's pretty funny.  In the car he'll go "OH NO! There's giant robots and monsters in the trees!  I'll get them *pew pew pew* (shoots them with his fingers) I'm the hero!"

Sawyer's and Andy are getting over their colds at least.  I feel bad because Andy's half marathon is in one week and he hadn't missed a run, but now only one week before he missed a 3 miler and an 8 mile run.  This week he is supposed to take it easy (the last "run" is a 2-mile walk a few days before the race) so I hope he is up to par after his cold!
