Sounder events

I have 2 Sounders related stories today, one not-so-good and one good.

We will start with the game on Saturday night.  I had been the water girl at the rugby game earlier, and I guess I probably didn't eat or drink much that day for the little bit of exercise I did with minimum energy.  Despite that, I was feeling just normal at the Sounders game when I started feeling a bit cruddy (not unusual).  But then my ears started to hurt.  I knew that feeling :(

I grabbed Andy and was like "I'm about to pass out".  We walked quickly to the bathroom (well, I stumbled a bit of it) and I hardly made it when I couldn't walk and Andy had to hold me to the ground outside the door.  I could barely hear anything and my vision was gone so I laid on the cement.  I heard a muffled guy come over and say he was getting the medics so I just laid there for a few minutes feeling like death.  It started to disappear and I sat up right as the medics got there.  I told them they could probably leave, but they immediately took my blood pressure and it was like 100 (it normally is 120) so they had me stand up and it dropped to 80.  They wouldn't let me go until it at least got over 100 when standing.  It got up to like 96 so they told me to hydrate and they'd let me leave if I left in an ambulance or if Andy picked me up outside the stadium if I got wheelchaired out.  I picked the wheelchair.

Now I don't pass out often...probably like 6 times in my life.  The pathetic thing is I have now passed out at a Sounders, Seahawks, and Mariners game.  I should get an award.

*Disclaimer: I DID talk to my doctor and she said it was not unusual or dangerous at all, I probably need to drink more (it is so hard to shove liquids in when I don't want anything) and all my 6 vials of blood tests were normal.*

Now for the GOOD Sounders post.  Osvaldo Alonso (my favorite Sounder) came to my work today for an appearance to sign autographs!  We got autographs, a free ball, and took pictures.  Even little Pixie got her shirt signed.  He asked Sawyer if he played soccer, and Sawyer was showing off his skills to everyone.

Surprise :)

Yep, baby's on board.  It is due April 2nd, but we are hoping for mid-March since they said there is often a connection (but not always) between siblings, and Sawyer came 16 days early fully-grown.  We are at about 12 1/2 weeks now :)

I guess to cover the basics:

-Yeah, we were going to wait until rugby was over, but June came around and I realized that would create a summer baby...and I definitely didn't want one of those...nor to be largely prego in the summer- yuck!  I looked up one of those fertility calendars and boom, first month worked perfectly (even if I had my dates off lol)

-How I feel:

Emotionally- nervous because Sawyer is such a handful now being 2, and I wouldn't want another with him now.  I am glad that he will be a lot more understanding (and understandable) since he will be 3... and totally makes me feel better that he'll be 4 before this one is walking.  I couldn't imagine having an infant the way toddlers take off running!  At the same time we still don't realize another one is coming.

Physically- much better. When I had that cold during our anniversary (around week 6) I thought I would die.  I didn't even know I was carrying Sawyer until week 8, and they say every one is different.  I didn't like how it started off with this one!  Thankfully I learned some tips late with Sawyer to keep me from throwing up this round.  I read a book that said it is mostly mental, and ain't that the truth!  I have trained myself to stop if I start gagging, I know which brand makes the tiny pills that don't make me gag (Kroger, no DHA, Dr. said that was all hype), but I stil have an issue brushing my teeth.  I've only thrown up about 5 times though, woot!  I still have to lay on the couch a lot, and standing at work all day is impossible, so every 45 minutes I come up with some excuse to sit in my office for awhile :/  It is hard because Andy has been so busy at work that we are both completely pooped when we get home.

-Eating: At the start, I would be hungry all the time, but there was only ONE thing I could eat...and even I never knew what that item was until Andy would go through an extensive list.  It was hard because I felt on the verge of gagging at everything, but I'd feel my stomach growl.  That has improved lately, but I am hungry a lot.  I actually eat lunch most days now.

-Dr. appt:  I went in thinking it was the same exact day we went with Sawyer (10 wks) but we received a lovely surprise when the ultrasound revealed a fist-pumping, kicking little bugger.  Sawyer just looked like a bean so I knew we were farther.  The doctor was surprised too and it was actually 11 weeks 1 day- always a nice surprise!  She kept saying how great it looked since it was flipping around and stuff.

I finally had to tell people at work because I was starting to look like I eat wayyy too much, and with the health-kick going on at work, I didn't want to be the only one getting fatter so I had to say why, haha!  Since about 6 people I know revealed their little fetuses this week, I thought I'd jump on board.

Here is how I look at 12.5 weeks...it is no joke you show earlier with your 2nd :/  This is the only mirror we have so I had to stand on the tub lol!  I swear it popped out a ton just in the last week!

Soon

My disks from Toshiba arrived yesterday, and Andy dropped them off at Geek Squad...so they can actually start fixing my computer!  I have so many pictures saved up and as soon as I get my computer back I'm going to turn into one of those people that post several blog posts in one day becuase the blogs have no connection whatsoever.

I feel slightly better about my Photoshop situation though, because Char said she just called Adobe and they had her codes saved so she was able to put hers back onto her computer... and I actually found my Photoshop CD.  If for some reason that doesn't work for me, she even said I could have her second version since it can go on 2 computers :)  What. A. RELIEF.

Things have been going fine lately.  We have 3 days left of official summer, and I want to start on my crafts so bad for fall, but the weather has been in the 80's for so long I just cannot get in the mood to do any. I think once the calendar says October and the Halloween stuff becomes acceptable, I can start the fall decor as well. Hopefully it will cool down soon too. Maybe rain on our grass?  It hasn't rained in months and everyone's lawns look like crap lol.

Andy was gone at work for 16 hours yesterday.  Gotta love SALARY >:(  I took the time and my unusual burst of energy to clean my room up all day...literally all day.  Poor Sawyer was stuck in our room all night, but he was very well behaved.  Probably because his new obsession Bob-Bob (spongebob) was on all night, and I bought him a new train set.  He loved Everett's train set when they lived with us for that month, and my mom busted out Erik's old one, so I got him his own.  I always check Target for new Cars (they usually don't have new ones) and unfortunately they had 4 new ones that I had to buy yesterday too.  Spoiled little guy!  We were sharing some toast for dinner as Andy got back at 10pm.  I think toast is my favorite food.

Here is Sawyer playing with his train tracks from my phone.  And yes, that is messy back there, but that section of the room will have to wait awhile to be fixed because it is a bunch of old baby stuff/clothes we have to figure out what to do with.

Here is a picture I took on the way to work.  It has been really hazy out because of fires in Eastern Washington, and the sunrise is actually bright red now.  Also, Mt. Rainier pretty much completely disappeared!  Sorry it is sideways, I actually flipped it on the computer but apparently it didn't work.

The half marathon of doom

I wish I could wait to post these until I have the pictures ready, but who knows when my computer will be back, and I know my memory will not last.

So Saturday morning we headed to Dash Point for Andy's half marathon.  We got there and the people setting it up were Evergreen Trail Runs.  I asked Andy if he knew it was a trail run because my heart almost stopped, and he said he knew, but thought it was like a road (like 5 mile drive would be).

Everyone signed in and lined up at the bottom of a trail.  They said there would be 1300 feet of elevation gain!  A lady told us how she ran it before and it was one of the hardest (she was a trail runner) and at one point in the course there are 6 flights of stairs.  You do 2 laps for the half marathon, 4 for the marathon.

Andy took off with the crowd, and Sawyer and I played on the beach until we thought it was time to meet Andy after his first lap.  My heart dropped as I saw people coming out with dirt up their shirts and gashes on their legs and arms.  This course was no joke.  Andy finally came out to the fuel station (I was surprised how long people hung out there, I guess that just shows how hard the course was).  He was sweaty as usual, but looked ok.  He said to come back about that same amount of time to finish the second lap.

We went back to get him at the same amount of time (about 2:30 after it started) and just then the super-runners were emerging (that is like an hour longer than a normal half-marathon).  These were the people that are just skin, bones, and muscles, wearing their "marathon maniacs" shirts and shorts up to their crotches.  I had a feeling it would be a while longer.

We waited.  People were finishing saying "that was as hard as my full street marathon" (my heart dropped), a few more gashed people came out.  A lady came out with a broken rib.  I watched the clock and after 20 minutes, I was sure Andy would be limping out on a broken ankle.

Did I mention that Andy had been running, but the most he had run was 10 miles?  He said after the 10 he felt like he could keep going for awhile, but certainly not something as hard as a FULL MARATHON as people were comparing it to.

Andy finally emerged at 3:10 and nearly collapsed at the finish line.  The first thing he did (after spit a lot) was say "that is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life."  He drank about 2 bottles of water, 2 bottles of nuun, and a bottle of kool-aid.  People kept asking "is this your first trail run? There is another one later that is a bit flatter" Andy says there is no part of him that ever wants to do that again.  He was cruising along and hit "the wall" part of the way into the second lap.  The issue was most of the elevation gain is at the beginning so it takes everything out of you in the first couple miles.

I am so proud of him.  He is super proud of himself.  He is also a little annoyed at himself for not looking into what he was getting himself into first.  We are finding him a REAL half-marathon for him to do soon so he can accomplish his goals realistically.

I have to add that the people that did the full marathon there must be insane.  They were walking quite a bit even after 2 laps, and they had 4 total!

I brought my camera, but since I have no computer to attach it to, I just have a picture of Sawyer on the beach.  I was taking pics of him with my camera, and he said "NO! Phone cheese!" so I got a picture on my phone and was able to upload that to my work computer.
This is him waiting for daddy.

Suds free

Someone asked me a couple months ago if I still wash my hair with baking soda.  Since I can't post any awesome pictures, I thought I'd give an update on the suds-free issue.

The answer?  Yes, but not all the time.

It really does work.  My hair gets greasy pretty quickly compared to some since each hair is so fine, and it definitely takes all of that out.  I just couldn't do it ALL the time.

The negatives (why I can't do it all the time):
-If you do it enough, it starts to build up in your hair.  It is VERY hard to rinse out all the way since it is dissolved in water in the first place I noticed it would start to get heavy and I could feel it in there.  My hair would look more "clumpy" too (not like oily stringy, but like bigger chunks)

-After it is a little built up, your hair tangles throughout the day more.  It was getting ridiculous by the end of the day after a few weeks.

-My hair started to lose the "good" smell

One other issue that happened when I first did it was I ended up with a little dandruff.  Luckily it went away though, but I almost stopped after the first week.

Dont fret though, one wash with Pantene shampoo and conditioner placed it right back where it was!  Soft and smooth, and smelling good.  I usually use the Pantene once or twice a week, but it is better than 7 times!

The positives (why I still use it):
-Super cheap!  I only dissove a tablespoon in my container and that lasts for like 4 or more uses.  The whole box of baking soda is only like $0.50.  I hardly use any of the vinegar solution each time and it lasted months.

-When you first get out of the shower, you can completely comb through your hair- no tangles at all.  It is way better than conditioner for that.

-My hair will NOT hold curls.  At all.  They last about an hour.  After using it a few times, it held curls perfectly without any hairspray even!  Since I started using pantene randomly though, I generally make sure if I am going to curl my hair it has been a few days since actual shampoo, and I use hairspray...BUT they hold!

-I don't know if it is the baking soda or the vinegar, but it naturally lightens your hair just a tad so I have awesome highlights in my hair that took no money or effort.

So there you have it.  I am an advocate!

Here is my method:
1. Pour the solution on the top of my head where it needs it most (front, by ears, etc).  Massage like you are lathering shampoo.  It will kind of run down your hair, but usually you don't need it at the bottom.
2. Let it sit while I wash the rest of my body
3. Rinse out like you would shampoo.
4. Apply a few squirts of vinegar solution to the bottom.
5. Shave legs (yes, I shave my legs quickly daily- can't stand prickly legs!)
6. Rinse out vinegar solution

As for the using-oil-to-clean-your-face method...well, it worked, but it took wayyyy too long each night and I didn't see a change in my face.  It is just easier to wipe my face with a clearasil pad at night rather than rubbing in oil and steaming it off with a cloth for minutes at a time.

Disconnected

This weekend Andy discovered google chrome wouldn't work on my computer, and some pop-up wouldn't go away.  We took it to Geek Squad and I have a virus :(  We had to get a membership to have them fix it for $200 (it costs the same with or without the membership, and with one you get free maintenance and they'll fix anything else for a year.)

My anti-virus expired awhile ago and I couldn't renew it at that point in time...and didn't know how to do it later on without it asking me.

So, I am unable to post my cute pictures, check my photography facebook (it won't let you check business page messages on the mobile site for some reason), or check the latest memes.  Hopefully it is finished soon, but it can take a week :(

On a funnier note, my mom reminded me of something funny Sawyer said that should have been in the last blog.

My mom, floating on the tube in the lake:  "You can either swim in the water, or float up here with me.  What do you like?"

Sawyer: "Cheese."

So they went and got some cheese.

The darnedest things

I posted this on FB, but wanted to get it to save forever on the blog :)

We were talking at work about how excited we were for fall.  Sweaters, crisp air that smells like the pretty changing leaves everywhere, pumpkins (and pumpkin spice lattes), scarves, the colors... *sigh* it is all our favorite season and we are all over summer. Some of us over the heat, and some of us (me) over the over-use of air conditioners to make rooms an uncomfortable 65 degrees (seriously- I blame my cold on that).  I thought of decorations for fall and Halloween (my favorite holiday) and realized this is probably the last year I can dress Sawyer in something adorable and fluffy of my choice.

On the drive home, I decided to make conversation with Sawyer and tell him about Halloween- how you get to dress up in a costume and get candy.  I asked him if he could dress up and be anything in the world, what would he be?

His response?  "Ummmmm.....chocolate milk"

It is so funny what comes out of that guy's mouth sometimes!  Sometimes he is such a know-it-all too.  Today a leaf fell on him (fall's coming!) and flew under the truck.  He goes "OH NO!"  I said "Uh-oh, did the leaf go under the car?"  He goes, "Truck." Matter-of-factly.  My bad!  One of his favorite things to say is "Right." Like we didn't know what we were asking him.  Example: "Is this the letter A?" He will go "Right. A" (BTW he knows all the letters now except thinks J's are L's. and V and U are still both the letter "View", but can see words and say the letters quickly now)

Today he was watching little Einsteins (his most recent obsession) and has to call me to tell me about the tom-mom-mus (hippopotamus) and  ee-neh-nus (rhinoceros).    He is trying so hard at sentences too and it is adorable.  Today I asked what he did all day (he used to not answer) and he says "Eli. Outside. Fun. LJ outside too."

I think I'm going to miss all these little attempts, but I suppose the more he can say the more funnies we will get.
