womp womp womp

I don't have any awesome updates, but we went to the doctor yesterday for the 15 week check up (not that it's standard, but you have a first appt at 10-12 weeks, then every 4 weeks.  I think as you get higher it gets to every week, but we never made it that far last time)

Sawyer weighed 31 lbs yesterday.  I don't, nor have I ever looked at the scale.  My doctor will tell me if I gain too fast, so I don't want to depress myself.  Sawyer saw me on the scale and jumped on too.  Next she checked my blood pressure (which I assume is normal now or she would have said something.) Then they bust out the ol' heartbeat machine.  WOMP WOMP WOMP.  As soon as it started making the noise, Sawyer got the biggest smile, then did that open-mouth-super-wide-shocked-smile thing the whole time.  Andy told him it was a baby.  He set him down and he runs over to me and points at my tummy and goes "BABY!"  I was shocked and was like "did you just say that? He never understands when I try to tell him" then Dr. Knowles told him he is going to realize it real soon and is in for a rude awakening ;) Funny!

This is me now (completely full of food btw).  Still look like I've got a beer belly.  You get a peek of a super excited toddler that kept yelling at me "doing mommy?" While I stood on the tub.

In other news, this was the weather today.
It was foggy and chilly all day!  Fall is here!  It was the first chilly day!  It made me want to go home and put on a sweater, boots, and scarf...but then I remembered how much more comfortable sweats are ;)

I did, however, make a few things today.  Andy had to stay overnight in Burlington again this week and we were on our own.  In spirit of the season, I made some pretty good hot cocoa (dark cocoa powder, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, milk) then I blasted the heat and made some banana ice cream (freeze banana coins for an hour and a half then blend with other toppings- I used peanut butter, cinnamon, and honey and re-freeze a bit and you have perfect ice cream).  We made a frozen pizza for dinner.  I am so domestic.

We watched Cars (per usual), and yo Gabba Gabba, which Sawyer has cleverly deemed "two Gabbas".  I think he is obsessed with the number two since that is his age.  He always has to point out when there is two of something.  We skyped Andy a little, and are about to skype Grandma in CA.  I'd say I pulled off the day OK :)

Rivals

Sunday night was the big game.  The big rivalry in the MLS is the Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders.  We headed up with my parents that snagged tix fom my dad's work, and parked FAR away.  This game was one of the ones they opened the entire top of the stadium too, and over 66,000 people came.

Sawyer came too.  He was very good the first half and just laid his head on Andy like he was about to fall asleep.  At halftime people started poking at him and for the rest of the game so Andy's arms were getting tired holding a wiggly guy.

The Sounders played awesome that game, and shut out the Timbers 3-0.  It was fun because the crowd was so energetic too.  They had to be with the giant Timbers Army section (luckily on the other side of the stadium as us so we couldn't really hear them).

I think my favorite part of Sounders games is right before the game starts.  They announce the other team (after each player the crowd yells "WHO?"), they announce our players while everyone's scarves are up (the guy says their first name as the crowd yells the last name), then the team walks out during the boom-boom-clap where one guy in the stadium hits the drum and the entire crowd that has their hands in the air claps and yells "HEY!"  Then the guy comes out and "leads" the national anthem while everyone sings.  The team goes out on the field to "scarves up" and at kick off they launch the streamers.

We got extra this game too.  Sawyer got a bear from one of our season ticket buddies (she sits behind us) and Andy guessed the "man of the match" correctly and won a lotto ticket :)

Sawyer did the boom-boom-clap

A sweet tifo display

Almost asleep

The nice lady Kate behind us gave Sawyer a Sounders bear :)

Pumpkin Patch '12

Yesterday morning we woke up early to hit up the pumpkin patch before the huge crowds arrived.  Erik and Destiny met us there.  We go to Spooner Farm down by Orting because it is fun and free!  It was a great day to go, it was very sunny, but not too hot so that we could still wear our sweaters for better fitting pictures.

We had fun walking through the pumpkins to find some good ones

He was deathly afraid of this spider

He liked sticking his limbs through the pumpkin though

Next we went to the smaller stuff for food.  Sawyer helped Erik and Destiny load corn, and he had way too much fun doing it. He counted it as it went in.

Erik made a jokingly sarcastic comment towards Sawyer and he got so upset his lip stuck out for 5 minutes. I'm surprised he even knew what Erik said.  Something about packing the corn better lol.

Uncle Erik made it up to him by buying him a cookie. Despite the confused look here, he enjoyed it.

I said "screw you braces" and got a roasted corn since everyone else was talking about how good it was. He is showing off his cookie.

Afterwards we went to see the animals (chickens, turkeys, pigs, chicks, goats, donkeys), and he got to color while sitting on pumpkins.  His absolute favorite was the duck racing though.  We were there forever!

We had a ton of fun, then went to Value Village to find a costume for Sawyer.  He looks adorable in his costume, we just had to persuade him with candies to try it on.  Hopefully he realizes how many candies he gets on Halloween and keeps it on all night.

Attempt at pictures turns into a mess.

A few leaves are changing, but I was going to wait to take some pictures of Sawyer until they were all changing and had plenty on the ground.  On the way back from work I saw there were a few fall colors over at the elementary school next to our house, so I stopped by home for a few seconds to grab the camera and change Sawyer's shirt for a quick practice session.

Of course the little butt-head doesn't cooperate and neither looks at me or smiles when I ask him to.

But then, I hear "BLACKBERRIES!"  Uh oh.

He ended up eating like 20 non-stop.  At least he knows to only eat the black ones.

He made a huge mess everywhere!

I should have known there is no such thing as a quick little perfect photoshoot. Oh well.  I hope he is better for the camera on Sunday when we hit the pumpkin patch.

When dad's away...

...the household falls apart.

Andy had to stay the night in Bremerton for work last night so it was just me and Sawyer.

I thought through a bunch of things we could do together.  Tacoma mall? Walk in the park?  Well I got off work and my toe was still screwed up (no idea why) so I can't really walk well.  Plus I was all tired as usual. We went home and put on the debate.

Of course Sawyer runs to his chair right away "Hungy mommy!"

Uh-oh.

We had toast.  And cherry tomatoes from the farm share.  I can make toast.  And he got some sort of vitamins.  Parenting success!

Poor guy. Lucky I am not a single mom or who knows what situation we would be in ;)

The best part is I let him sleep in my bed and with a whole half to himself. He didn't wiggle or bug me all night. He fell asleep rubbing my head then grabbing my hands.  It was adorable but super weird.

Andy comes back today, thank God. Plus on his little trip his boss told him he wants him to start working 8 hour days (instead of 12) so we will get to see him sooner every day too!  He is salary so his pay won't shrink. He also got some nice compliments that people are impressed with him so it was worth the trip I guess :)

October means...

DECORATION SEASON HAS BEGUN!

Although it feels kind of weird since the weather is still pretty warm I put a few things up...scarecrows, fall scented candles, and even made a wreath today.  The leaves are starting to change, EEEP! :D October first is also fair game for Halloween.  This is probably the last year to dress Sawyer as something cute and fluffy, so it is going to take some research before I decide what he will be for trick-or-treat. (By the way, I am super excited to be in a big kid-friendly neighborhood this year.) I think I need to hit up the Target dollar section for some more Halloween decor though.

Bought the berry sticks, made the flowers and bow.

Medley

This is 3 small posts I thought weren't worthy of a full one on their own.

1. Cougs at the CLink

Saturday night we met the ferrellgas crew at Century Link field because WSU had their yearly game there.  They played the Oregon Ducks, which are number 2 in the nation...and well, the cougs aren't that great (though their school spirit could rival the best of 'em).  It was so warm during the day (in the 70's) that I only wore a sweatshirt and brought a northface.  Andy just had a sweatshirt.  We were up in the windy nosebleeds and it got so cold, we had to leave soon after the 3rd quarter started. (BTW, what the heck football, why you gotta take so long?  Soccer and rugby games would have been long done by the time halftime hit.  Add the breaks every 5 seconds and it is hard to hold your attention for that long.)  The cougs did well until halftime, where I assume the Ducks got a "WTF is going on, you should be destroying these guys" pep talk and started to turn it around.

2. New hat.

Janelle (the one that watches Sawyer) knows how to knit, and wants to start a little business.  I described to her an owl hat I wanted and she made the exact replica of the one I wanted. Kind of a weird angle, but it is super cute! It was all I could get out of him.

3. Baby Genius

My mom had some puzzles (age 3 and up) and she had Sawyer put them together.  I swear he has a photographic memory because he put everything in the exact right spot right away.  She then took all the pieces out and mixed them up, and had the boards on the floor and she would hand him pieces and he would go to the right spot immediately.  I think you have to watch it in action to see how skilled it looks.  I think I would take longer than that, and these aren't puzzles he had done a bunch and was used to them or anything.
