Yesterday was Sawyer's first time at the dentist! He went to the same doctor as I have gone to since I was his age so it was kind of a full-circle moment.
He saw me go last week and knew it was soon his turn so he was excited. He got there and read some books and talked to strangers as he loves to do "Hello. I'm reading Garfield. Mommy I just said hi to him. You say hello to that guy too." (Super awkward.)
The lady was so nice to him and patient. The first thing he said when he sat down was "Please don't hurt my teeth" all matter-of-factly. She insisted she is not going to hurt them and he was a little more relaxed.
Next she showed him how the chair moved and made it go all the way up, then back down. She even let him do it again when he asked for one more time.
Next he got his shades.
Then she polished them. He liked the sucker thing and did good when she said to suck on the straw. She then flossed and painted fluoride on his teeth which is much better than those stupid trays with the foam or gel. He could eat right away, he just couldn't brush his teeth that night.
She said we were doing really well brushing his teeth since they were super clean and had no tartar. He had no cavities too! They said he will probably need to see an orthodontist as soon as his big teeth come in though since he will almost certainly have crowding (like us). He got a purple penguin toothbrush, some cool flossers, and got to pick a toy (he picked the bouncy ball.) They even gave Kellan a green penguin toothbrush to brush his gums :)
We got home and ate tacos from Taco Time and Kellan crawled around backwards because he still can't go forwards. He started doing this leg thing though. It's funny because he tries to go forwards but ends up backwards and he gets super angry because his toys get farther and farther away.
He can push himself into sitting positions now but sometimes gets stuck in weird positions.
