What a weekend!

Phew! I am glad that weekend is over.  I dont think we've had so many big events in one weekend ever before! It will make for a long blog today haha :)

Event 1: Davey's wedding
So Andy's brother Davey got married Saturday morning at 11:30 to his girlfriend Moraima.  It was at Wapato (i think that is right) park in Tacoma under these really pretty arches.  Andy was the "best man." It was a very small ceremony, but it was beautiful because everyone they loved was there.  They looked so happy that you couldnt help but to smile the whole time, too.  The only problem was that it was like 90 degrees.  Everyone was getting faint.  I was sad because we bought Sawyer that awesome sweatervest and hat as shown on the last blog for this day, and he was getting so hot! The worst part was there was no shade so the poor guy was just out in the sun the whole time.

Afterwards, we drove over to the institute building in Tacoma, which was luckily air conditioned.  Andy made a nice toast about how Davey used to pick up junk on the way home from school and bring it home, but this time he figured it out because he was finally bringing home a "treasure".  They even had live fish in the bowls that were centerpieces.

Event 2: Jay's WA reception
After going home for a few minutes, we went to Jay and Chantel's reception at the church building downtown.  We were happy for them but didnt really want to run into a bunch of people there lol.  It was really cool because they had a beach theme and used the live fish for their centerpieces, too...they just added some shells and stuff.  Someone did a hula for them and taught them it as well.  Funny story though: Andy and I were assigned to make the punch and water bowls.  There were ziplock bags and store bags of ice in the freezer. Andy asked what to use and his mom grabbed a ziplock bag of ice and said "you have to smash them like this" So he smashed up the bags of ziplock ice and put them in the bowl.  I said "why is it white? is it because of the cracks?" (there was white on some of the ice.  Andy said that it must be.  Well a few minutes later someone came in and was like "Why did you use salt water?" Well turns out the ziplock bags were from a ward activity making ice cream! If you've ever made your own that way, you know they salt the ice to make it colder.  We used the ice cream ice on accident! I dont know who would put that back in the freezer though.  We had to redo the ice water but Andy just added more juice to the punch because people didnt notice it as much in there HAHA! I dont have pictures of this one because i left my camera at home.

Event 3: Cruzans/Grovers staying over
That night Andy's aunt Kristi and uncle Ben and the kids (5 altogether- 2 older and 3 little kids) stayed overnight.  Talk about chaos- those kids are loud and crazy! After they went to bed Bonni and Pete came over and we all talked with Kristi and Preston.  It was really fun and we had the funniest conversations.  It might have been a little too "adult" for Preston because he kept saying "oh my gosh" and his mom would try to embarass him a couple times.  The next morning was so loud too but we all got off safely haha.

Event 4: Sawyer's blessing
The next morning was Sawyer's blessing at church.  We are so glad that his aunts Kristi and Kelly and their whole families, my parents, both sets of andy's parents, andy's grandparents, Julie and Kailee, Pete and Bonni, and Erik and Destiny all came.  Andy's grandpa did it and it was very touching.  Andy said Sawyer was smiling the whole time :)

Event 5: Erik and Destiny's wedding
At 3:30 my brother and Destiny- his long time fiancée (well as long as a 21 and 22 year old can be engaged) got married.  Andy was the best man here too!  It was very pretty- in Destiny's parents backyard in front of a waterfall.  It was very small- only immediate family members were there, but i loved it.  Her sister is a photographer so i will have more pictures when i see those, but she was in the wedding so hopefully her other sister got some good ones of that.  It was also very hot, but went quickly.  Everyone looked so good but were all sweating lol.  They plan to have a big wedding next year- this was just more to sign papers so they might have a better chance of adopting Cooper being married.  We had to skip out before the dinner though because of the next event

Event 6: Our anniversary
We left the wedding and dropped Sawyer off in Olympia and Grandma and Grandpa Monson's house.  After a quick stop at Kohl's and Target for a few items i forgot, we were on our way to Westport.  I should have also bought a sweater.  About a half hour away from Westport, we drove into a cloud. Like literally- we could see the cloud.  The thing was, we never came out.   It was 90 degrees and we were overheating the whole time, and it quickly turned to 55 and drizzly.  It never stopped! We got to our bed and breakfast (which smelled soooo good because she was cooking some cinnamon-y breakfast bars.  We went to the beach right after and froze.  We found a little shelter though that someone had made out of driftwood and i sat inside and andy pulled out a present- new diamond earrings! They are so pretty! They are a bunch of little ones in a square shape and i love them!  We went back and ate our wedding cake that we had saved.  We only that that bite we fed each other at the actual wedding so we were anxious to try it.  It was so good! Still moist and everything! The next morning we had a delicious breakfast with 2 other couples at the dinner table and went into town.  We got waffle cones in my favorite flavors- rootbeer float and bubblegum- and went to the beach.  It was still hazy but the haze was burning off and it was somewhat warm.  We watched the surfers until i got cold and went back to the pier to get lunch.  I had a crab sandwich (actually very good) and andy had tuna and chips (also good).  We then left for home.

Event 7: Mocha
We got sawyer then headed to the tacoma mall's build a bear.  We made a bear for our anniversary and gave it to Sawyer.  His name is mocha and has a hoodie and undies on :)

I had to put these pictures in. I was sitting at my computer...the one i'm on now...and the room faces the backyard.  I look over and a deer is right at the window (no, he wasnt looking in).  I point it out to andy and he says "take a picture!"  I pull out the camera and it starts walking to the side of the house.  I caught it popping out the front.

So funny.  Now on to the weekend of weddings (3 and our anniversary)

Sawyer's room is finally finished

Woo! We have been distracted every single time we planned to put it together, but it is done! We finally put everything on the walls and cleaned up the giant pile of clothes given to us. The wallpaper strip was the worst, you have to soak it in the tub, then let it sit for like 5 minutes before you can put it up.  Then, you have to try and put it up evenly while it is all slimy.  I think we did well though.  I know he probably wont sleep in it for awhile...until he outgrows his bassinet or i can get him to sleep longer than 5 hours, but i still like having it done :)

Sneak peek announcements

So i took pictures of Sawyer today to put on the announcements. There were so many cute pictures, i had the hardest time choosing!  Though i think everyone thinks their baby is cute lol.  I dont want to post them on facebook because everyone will see them before the announcements, but readers of the blog get a sneak peek of some of them.

I love having stuff to do

Yesterday was a good day, i love having stuff to do. When Andy got home we went to visit Jenna at work and got free smoothies (yay!) We also got to meet her boyfriend of over a year finally.  We were starting to think he didnt exist (haha, kidding.)  Then Andy and team Venom had 2 indoor games that night.  I think everyone was getting beat because they had no subs and 2 different games.  The first they barely lost :( but they won the second game.  My dad came to watch, which was good for him because he never has anything to do at night.  I wish i was in shape for soccer because it looks so fun but i am pretty sure i would get tired after running down the field once lol. Another good part of the day: Sawyer is "talking" and smiling more which is more fun for us. Bad part of the day: i have a cold...which in my opinion is dumb in the summer.

Book club!

We drove down to Vancouver today for book club.  It was aunt Kelly's book "Act One" the autobiography of Moss Hart.  They had their living room done up in a restaurant (some famous theater one i dont know of) and Nina, Daphne, and Margot were the waitresses, it was really cool.  Everyone got to meet Sawyer for the first time too.  We had to give our Sounders tickets up, but it was perfect because we wanted Erik to get to go before he went back to school so he and Destiny got them. It was really fun.

Pyloric Stenosis

So we finally got settled in after an interesting week. As I posted before, Sawyer was throwing up a LOT starting the Thursday before and all weekend, and by Monday it was out of control.  We went to the doctor at about 4:30 Monday and he said that it could be either the flu or a condition called pyloric stenosis that shows up at about that time in life (6 weeks old).  He said it is fairly common, but way more common in first borns and males (especially first born males like Sawyer).  He told us to feed him 5mL of Pedialyte every 5 minutes to try to get him hydrated, then start to move up the dosage. Since he had wet diapers, it showed that he wasnt too dehydrated yet. Well we tried the Pedialyte and it worked for about an hour. We moved up the dosage a big and BLECH. He started throwing up all over the place again.  Andy was worried so he called the on-call doctor which happened to be Dr. Knowles, Sawyer's pediatrician.  He told her what was going on and she said since he is so small to take him to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital's ER. We wait awhile, we weigh him (10 lbs, 7 oz....he was 11 lbs on thursday). He gets to his room and puts on a giant gown.  They try to draw blood but since he is so small and dehydrated, they have to poke him 5 times. They would get a vein, a drop of blood would come out, then it would close up.  They also had to stick a catheter in him to get a urine sample which was sad too.  They do an ultrasound, and find that it definitely was pyloric stenosis.  It is when they pyloris, a muscle at the bottom of your stomach and beginning of intestines is overdeveloped so food cant leave your stomach, it is blocked.  They said it is a minor surgery, and they do many of them, but it is still surgery on an infant so they know it is scary for us. They have to go in and cut and stretch the muscle out.  The next day at around 11:00 he went in for about 40 minutes and had a successful surgery.  He then stayed in the hospital until thursday around noon.  It was hard to get him to eat again, we had to do pedialyte, then his regular formula, then he threw that up, then we mixed pedialyte with an easier to digest formula, and work up from there.  She said his stomach was so stretched out and swollen that it matched someone who had the condition for a couple weeks, not just been throwing up for about 5 days which is why it was harder to get him to eat after.  Anyways, he is now eating about as much as he did before the surgery, and though he cries a lot more than he did before, we think he is just uncomfortable and everything will be back to normal soon.
