yuck

Sawyer had liquids coming out from everywhere today.  It was awful!  He has really swollen gums around his top two teeth so we are hoping it is that rather than a bug.  He doesn't have a fever and he has all of his energy.  He won't keep anything down except a few ounces of pedialyte so we are hoping he will be able to sleep fine.  I don't think he can go to the babysitters tomorrow so we will have to figure that out too. :( At one point today we had to change his diaper like every 10 minutes.  He needed 2 baths within an hour of waking up... which means he is all scaly now since he has excema so he isn't supposed to take baths very often because ironically water dries your skin. Ugh.  Not a pleasant day.  We pretty much sat around watching Dinner for Schmucks, the Academy Awards, and Big Love.  Hopefully this doesn't last long!

Here are a few more pictures from the other day...

Proud mama

I always get so excited whenever Sawyer does something new, as I would assume all mothers do.  He is still not crawling the normal way (just scooting like a champ) but he has started pushing up into the complete yoga "downward dog" stance all the time (google image search if you don't know what that is haha) and moving his feet or donkey kicking.  It is so funny because he just wont move his hands.

Today, he did 2 things I am proud of though.  First, he crawled himself up the front of his toy into a completely standing position by himself.  It was leaning against the wall/heater so it didnt push backward.  He usually crawls up me and i move my hands to where it is convenient for him, but this is the first time he stood up alone and we were nowhere near him.  Then after awhile he fell sideways off it and hit his head on the heater, causing me to nearly burst into tears with him :(  He is such a trooper, whenever he gets hurt he will cry at first, but as soon as the pain is gone, he is completely fine.  I think I was upset longer than he was!

Tonight, Andy put him on the other side of the toy standing up and holding the handles for the walker side of it.  To our surprise, he started walking with it.  Not well, but he will take a step or two, then lean forward and just as we are about to reach out and grab him because it looks like he will lose balance, he will walk himself straight up again!  I was so proud! I know he isn't walking on his own, but to see him walking at all without me pulling him around made us so excited!

Here is a picture of him walking with it:

Frozen

Sawyer went to Megan's today because Cooper went back yesterday so Destiny is going to stay with her sister  in Hawaii for a a week or two.  Destiny used to live with her when she lived in WA and since they moved back (two nephews) she hasn't been able to visit because of Cooper.  I was so glad the roads were clear- it was pretty icy when we went to bed.  It was so pretty out with the snow and the sun and I was hoping I would get home in time so I could take more pictures to play with later.  Success! Across from our house there is a little playground for the neighborhood so we played there for a few minutes before we froze.

Bad hair

We had to go to the store, but it was snowy so Sawyer got bundled up and fell asleep in the car.  He gets so hot when he sleeps that his jacket made him really sweaty.  He looked so funny!

Morning routine

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (and many Thursdays recently) I take Sawyer to his babysitters because Andy has to go in to work at 5am.  He usually wakes up right after I get out of the shower.

One of my favorite things is how he hangs out with me at the top of the stairs while I am getting ready in the mirrors.  It starts off with staring at me without moving the entire time I blow dry my hair.  Then, he usually scoots around and finds things he shouldn't, or tips over the trash can.  Lately, he has been scooting into the bathroom to play with the shower curtain the whole time- it is pretty cute.  I took a few phone pictures this morning.

Shoulda been a cowboy...

Andy has a friend from St. Martin's (Meghan) from Montana. She brought her horse Mouse to WA and just keeps her in a stable about 20 minutes away.  Meghan invited me and Andy to go ride Mouse for a birthday/valentine's present.  It was so fun!  Andy went first and Mouse didn't like him.  She isn't used to the weight and a guy not really knowing what he was doing.  When Andy finally got her going, she decided to take off and almost brush him off against the wall.  Andy didnt know how to stop so only right before hitting a wall we yelled "PULL BACK!" so he was saved.  It was the funniest thing after we realized he was safe.  I went next and was pro (probably because I am a lot closer to Meghan's size).  I rode her around and got her to put her head down and do circles and trot.  Afterwards Andy got to give her oats and got "horse goo" all over his hands.

This is when she took off, check out Andy's face HAHA

The big 2-4

A few things happened since the last blog.  One is, I turned 24....whoa.  I feel so old, not because I am 24, but the fact that people I grew up with that were 4 years younger (a big difference back then) are now 20. Weird.  We went with family and friends to the Old Spaghetti Factory.  It was pretty fun :) I got some gift cards, a cute headband, wall decals, and rugby gear, which leads me to my next post.

Yesterday, the morning after deciding I wasn't going to play co-ed indoor soccer anymore, a friend of mine wished me happy birthday and mentioned her rugby team needed people.  I mentioned it to Andy, and I later came home to a new rugby ball and mouthguard.  My friend was on vacation and I was going to wait until she got back to try it out, but the first game was next Saturday and if I waited for her, I would only have been to one practice instead of 3.  Tonight was my first night.  They took 4 of us noobs aside to teach us stuff (the other noobs had already been to a few practices).  We learned passing, rucking, tackling, and scruming (not sure if it is proper to put "ing" at the end of any of those but just go with it).  I got to practice being a "hooker" in a scrum which was pretty fun.  It is really intense though and there are a lot of big girls.  Kind of frightening, but they were all nice.  It is still really awkward though because I don't know any of them and they all go out afterwards which isnt so appealing to a mother and wife but we will see how it goes.  A lot of them started out new so they are understanding.  Andy is really jealous, yet proud he says.  I got quite a workout and I didnt even do much (we didnt even have conditioning) so 2 practices and a game every week should maybe trim me up a tad.  We will see how it goes I guess.  I am excited to be trying a new and "different" sport after doing so many "regular" ones.  I can't wait for it to be light out because they had like 2 lights they propped up for the entire field of both mens and women's teams so it is hard to see lol

Valen-times

Andy had school today until 9:00pm so it was mostly just me and Beany today.  He left us a monkey pillow and valentines cakes in the car this morning :)

After work, me and Beany went to go get Andy a present.  We parked at JC Penny and my arm was way sore by the time I got to Just sports (which is only a few stores down). I had to set him on the ground for awhile!  We got Andy one of the new slate gray Sounders jerseys, but he will have to exchange because they didn't have his size. The girl at the store had a baby the day before Sawyer at the same hospital and we thought it was funny that we were there the same time :)

We came home and got DQ for our single dinner and waited for Andy.  He finally got home at like 9:45 with more loot.  He brought Sawyer a rollie turtle, and me a scrapbook, roses, and Bert.

Bert is a penta-pus balloon (5 tentacles).  He gave him to me 2 valentine's days ago and he has made an appearance each v-day since.

Shirt from great-grandma monson

Meet Bert

He loves the turtle, and sporting the bib from aunt Stacy and Grandma Smith
Not the best valentine's day, but definitely not the worst :) Good day for a Monday!

Multiple funnies

Here is a multi-post again :)

1.We went to the Berner's last night with the Webbs (after driving all over town to figure out food) and played Scribblish for the first time.  How it works is everyone has scrolls and you draw a card with 3 phrases on it and you pick one to draw.  You write your caption then draw the picture.  You then scroll up to cover the caption so just the picture is there.  The next person writes what they think it is and scrolls up so the next person draws just their caption.  It is like telephone but with drawings.  It was the funniest game I have played.  We were dying laughing.  We had them go from "a race between me and an ostrich" to a picture of a guy beating an ostrich with a bat, "theres a buffalo on the trampoline" to "spacecat on the table, and here was the funniest one: "Try my new rocket shoes" to "I am bisexual"

2. This afternoon we had our family pics with Stacy Jacobsen.  We took them at the UW Tacoma campus. It was supposed to rain so we were nervous, but we got there dry, but WINDY.  I think they will be funny pictures because i spent a long time on my hair only for it to be blown all over the place, and Sawyer was sleepy and wind-blown.  Just as we were taking the last pictures it started to pour.  Talk about good timing. Oh and while we took a few of just me and Andy, Sawyer managed to find all sorts of stuff to put in his mouth before we could grab him including a leaf and a cigarette butt. Ew.

3. We started our Valentine's weekend with lunch at one of our favorite restaurants, Duke's Chowder House on the waterfront in Tacoma. The have SUCH good clam chowder, and they make blueberry sprites (like shirley temples but with blueberry syrup).

4. Andy made banana bread- YES!!!!

5.  We watched home movies my mom was copying to DVD of me as a baby.  Apart from the eyebrows and my chubbiness, I look just like Sawyer!  I even made the same noises.  It is so funny!

6.  Sawyer started making kissy noises and it was really cute.  I caught it on video, as well as him scooting for our distant relatives who have not witnessed it yet.

My afternoon

Cooper is sick so Sawyer couldn't be watched so I had to leave work early.  I wanted to take some pictures, so here is a photo journey of our afternoon.

First, we played on the floor and he scooted around

Time for a bottle

All done, that pig looks interesting

Time to go outside for some pictures

What is that brown stuff?

I love dirt!

Yes, he ate that rock and i had to pull it out as it started to go in his mouth

What a mess!

Then he went inside, got dirt on the floor, threw up (note the puddle to the right of his hip) and played with the magnets.

It was then time for a bath and bed.  Now I am wiped and it is only 5:30!
